Leah Goren

Photobucket

Sorry I have been so bad at blogging this last week! This tends to happen sometimes, so while I'm being lazy about taking outfit photos of myself, I will share some photos someone else took of me! These shots are for my friend Leah Goren's etsy shop! She is a super talented illustrator, working mostly in watercolors to create amazing prints which she makes into all things like dresses, top, totes and scarves. I am quite a fan of her work, I love the colors she uses and especially her reoccurring use of flowers! When Leah asked me to model some new designs she had for her shop I was more than happy to help! Hop on over to her blog too for super inspiring art work, oh and have I mentioned Anthropologie is now selling some dresses with her prints?? So proud to have such talented friends getting the recognition they deserve!

flower power

Photobucket

This weeks weather is supposed to get crazy.. 100 degrees by thursday!! Today is going to be the last semi-cool day before we get this heatwave, so I just of jumped the gun on this summery outfit, but thats okay! I plan to spend all day at the beach on thursday, so I'm getting myself in summer mode. The whole outfit it from Beacon's, of course. Furst time getting to wear this cute 60's bright daisy top, we all know I love flowers and bright colors! The shorts are AA originally, a style I have wanted for a while but neer wanted to pay the $40 or so it costs. I love when things just find me instead of me finding them, the thrills of thrifting!

theme fridays: hippie

Photobucket

Back to theme fridays! And this week it's hippie atire! So for this outfit I threw on the best top I own, this one belonged to my mother in the 70s, growing up I always had it in my dress up box along with a few other items of my moms. And once I realized this top was awesome and not just for dress up it made it's way into my regular wardrobe and thats where it stayed. I was told once by Donna, the vintage lady I work for, that an ethnic shirt like this is an good of condition as I have it and with the great pattern is actually worth somewhere between $200-$400! I was super surprised, but it's something I will never sell in a million years.

The jeans are Rebecca Taylor that I have been getting quite a bit of use out of these days. The platforms are JC, the ribbon around my head I got at a tag sale in Ohio a few summers back, and the sweet shades I got at the costume store when I was trying to be like Jodie Foster from Taxi Driver at halloween. I kind of just want to wear them all the time, they make everything look so nice!

cut it out

Photobucket

Another great find at work! Well, it wasn't even my find really, I was out of town for the weekend up in CT for a friends birthday (which I will share with you all later.. so much fun!) and when I came back into work yesterday I had a few things in my bucket from the girls while I was away. Always a nice surprise and one of the best perks about working there, it's like your co-workers giving you gifts all the time for no reason!

So this dress was waiting for me at work yesterday, super amazing! I think this kind of 70s/90s style dress is my new favorite thing. With this horrible polyester fabric, but in most cases has a great print and the rest of the dress is so great that fabric don't matter one bit! In these slinky styles with cool details like a tie at the bust and a cut out below! The whole world knows I love me some crop tops, and this is like a distant cousin.. or some sort of inbred baby.

My shoes, another new love of mine! Remember when I fist started at Beacon's and I scored a pair of Swedish Hasbeens? Well these are not them.. I got so excited about finding them that I made myself believe they were my size.. they did fit, but not as comfortably as would have been nice. But I held onto them anyways. And then last week these came into work, they are Sven Swedish Clogs, never heard of it, but I love them! And they really are my size! So I sold back in the Hasbeens and gave them to my friend and co worker Alley since she is a size smaller than I am. So now all is well and I her and I can both frolic off together in out Swedish clogs!

Brimfield 2

Just realized I never posted my second set of instagram photos from when I went to Brimfield. Looking back on these really makes me long to be there again with all my friends, I was lucky enough to have a good handful of friends come up for the end of the week. Finally got to show them the flea market I always rave about. Unfortunately I will not be going up again in July like I had planned, I'm going to be having a lot going on, mostly moving again so I just can't make it up there this go around. And like last time I moved things may get a bit quiet around here, so sorry in advanced for that!! So scroll down and enjoy my Brimfield trip via instagram.. and you can follow me there @emilyrosetheo!

theme fridays: the baby sitters club

Photobucket

Theme Friday's are back! And this weeks theme is The Baby Sitters Club! Gosh, I had not seen that movie in a long time, but I was excited to dress up for it. To get ready for it I watched the trailer and had a good laugh, they are all only 13! And it's so adorable! So I guess I was just trying to dress pretty 90s for this look, put some braids in my hair and some floral and done!

Everything I have on here is thrifted from back on LI, except for the shoes which I got from work. It feels good to have a totally thrifted outfit on again. These days I wear a lot of stuff I get from Beacons, or vintage dresses I got from Donnaland or something. But a year or more ago I just mainly went thrifting for all my clothing needs and thats how I built up my wardrobe. I'm a bit of a thrifting advocate, you could say.
