halloween in western massachusetts
i just had the best halloween weekend i could have asked for! the last couple of years i have had no real halloween plans and no real costume put together. i honestly dont have too many friends around where i live. many seem to be from around the country who i have met through the internets (hello friends!) like courtney and chris! courtney is a photographer ali and i met online years ago. and since have become real life friends and its one of the best things that has ever happend to me! the last time we were up for their end of summer solstice party the idea of halloween here came up and we were all down for the idea.
the night before halloween courtneys friend kristen who lives in a lovely old town called montegue had the first party. it was amazing. their house is lovely and so old and decorated so amazingly (hannah, i know you would love it, paintings of beautiful ladies everywhere!) their was food, and drinks and great great times. by the end of the night we were falling asleep on their comfy couches (we aren't the raging party types as you can see..)
halloween day was spent frolicking i the woods with the lovely ladies standing at courtney and chris' with two photographers in tow, these are the ways we spend our free time! ate yummy sandwiches and then got ready for halloween night at their place. they were amazing at decorating the place. chris is perfect at mood lighting! all the regular bulbs replaces with green, red, purple, color changing and black lights. tonight was a night to dress all in black and prepare for the witchy halloween ceremony we were to do around the bon fire.
it was a great night filled with more drinking, more eating, and plenty of dancing. oh and cant forget playing light as a feather stiff as a bored. didnt work out so great..but it was still fun.
the next morning before we left we stopped at this amazing glacier rock formation in the woods, it was so beautiful, a perfect way to end a perfect weekend.

thanks clever nettle!
so last week i made my first purchase from clever nettle and its this super amazing dress! i always knew i wanted to purchase something from the lovely shop owner anja, we have been in touch on the web for a bit now, my friend ali has been friends with her since their livejournal days, and she always told me i had to get to know her, that she was just simply the coolest! okay, well she didnt sound so cheesy when she was talking her up, but she just said what a lovely girl she is, and how the three of us have a lot in common and what not.
so back to my story, yes i always knew i wanted to purchase something from anja, shes got great taste in what she chooses for the store, and she markets it so well. making her listing images polyvore friendly really sets her appart! i was waiting for something i couldn't live without, and then it was there and now its mine! i received my package today along with an extra special gift, an issue of FUDGE magazine! (august 2010 issue) what a sweetheart huh?
the dress fits like a dream and i want to wear it always and forever! thanks anja for making my day!
today iv been working on my halloween costume. im making my own, after having not sewn in a while so we will see how it comes out. im gonna be a harlequin! if you look here at this etsy listing, i have the painting of the little guy on the right, and so what was my inspiration and im trying to recreate something like that. iv never sewn a bodysuit before so im a little nervous about how the crotch area is gonna turn out..but it worst comes to worst ill add a skirt or something.
this is where its at so far, a couple of weeks ago i used style tape on my dressform to create all these diamond shapes. then draped the pattern and cut it out then i got lazy and then i realized halloween is less than two weeks away! so i got my tush on the move and spending today sewing, if i dont get distracted..like i am right now! ahh! wish me luck!

pumpkin carving party
saturday night ali invited us over for a pumpkin carving party. others were invited.. but it turning into just us two couples again. no harm, it was a lovely night! we brought over some wine and some pumpkin pie (if you shop at trader joes, get the frozen pumpkin pie! just let defrost and serve! even better when still a bit cold, like pumpkin ice cream. really its the best!) and got to carving! jeremy has only ever carved like two pumpkins before. he was raised a jehovah witness and ya know, didnt celebrate holidays. so he wasn't into it at first, but he was so cute carving!
i carved a kitty! to be honest, i used the stencil that came with the tool we bought. but whatever man! it came out nice! and i spent $10 on that carving kit so i better get another one of two in before the seasons over!!
a little drunk, lazy evening
one of me and jeremys favorite ways to spend any random night is to invite ali and steven over for drinks and talks and whatever else. most of the time its just us and the kitties and tv and computer and all that nonsense. so we like to entertain sometimes. although its hardly work when these two come over.
we always have loads to talk about (ali is my bff, and we dont live far from each other, but but busy schedules keep us apart for long periods..) ill usually ask ali to bring over whatever photos shes recently gotten develop so i can take a look. im veyr lucky that way. you see, ali is choosy abou her photos and when you see a couple of beautiful images, just know there are tons that you never see. but me, i get a looksy :)
oh and what else do we do?.. i dont know, just hang out and do much of nothing ha. but they really are the best, ali and steven, and so its lovely having them over. heres a few shots of how we spent our night a couple of weeks ago, by now ( iv been bad at blogging sine fashion week ended, sorry! i have some pots all lined up!)
fred, making muffins in his bed
i drank like two cups of wine before they even came over that night, so i was a bit tipsy. went to pee and left the door open cause the kitties are so curious about the bathroom, and i like to let them in. ali stole a few shots of me, ha i was a laughing fool.
ahh yes, ending the night with some yummy chai, my favorite! and some tunes from the boy. as you can see i was a bit crazed over alis new purple tips. looked so nice in photos!
