Went to an estate sale today, an amazing one! I ment to take photos, but I was a bit overwhelmed. I didn't get everything I would have liked, because things were a bit pricy, and I only had $40 to spend. But I did get a really beautiful dress.. it needs a bit of work but I love it. And there was a lot of great clothes, all original stuff in the house, great wallpaper. Ya know, a dream house. After we stopped by this town on the north shore to get some Ralph's italian ices and just hang out and take in the beautiful weather!

I got this dress at Beacon's Closet the second time I traded there. While I was trading, there was a girl next to me was having her stuff looked at, each thing more amazing then the next! I grabbed two things out of what she was traded and ended up getting them, this dress being one. The other is this amazing Christian Dior peach cropped top that has an open back and a big bow at the waist.. you can probably see it in an outfit post from like a year ago, but I don't feel like digging. But this dress... I love it! And I hardly ever wear it for some reason.. But I busted it out last night to play a few rounds of poker with the boys. And then I threw it back on today cause it just felt right. I think this dress is staying with me for a long time.

These cute shoes were just given to me by my friend Courtney, she didn't quite wear them enough and she thought I would like them. And I do! I don't have anything like them, and I hardly have any black shoes, so It's a nice addition. Surprisingly comfortable too!

Tonight we are having a little going away thing for Jeremy, since sunday is his last day working at our store! There are a few traditions that happen when people leave Trader Joe's.. like getting your car plastic wrapped, usually with a cart or two in there, or balloons when we still gave them away to kids. and stickers on top of that (never stickers on the actual car.. it has happend.. it wasn't pretty..) you usually get a cake or something, and then a night out at a bar or whatever. Used to this place John Harvards right near our store, but I dont think they like us there anymore haha. Sorry I went off on a tangent there.. yea so tonight will be fun :) Hope everyone out there is having a great weekend!! June is almost here, and exciting things this summer await!

bits of brimfield

Some more shots from my trip to the Brimfield Antique show. This time mostly pretty very old dresses I could not afford. Ahh, such beauty, even though some booths were way over priced, or just out of my budget, there is nothing like getting to see stuff like this in person. It makes me happy to know that there are so many people out there salvaging all this beautiful history. In 50 years time this stuff could all be lost forever.

Fleet Foxes

So last night I went to see Fleet Foxes with Jeremy and It was great!! We went into the city early so we could drop by the Trader Joe's where Jeremy will be working soon and to get some dinner. It was our first time in that store (the one on the upper west side) and it's really nice, all underground! Two floors too! We met his new Captain (that's the boss, second in command is called First Mate, and we are all the Crew! lol Trader Joe's talk) and took a look around. It's in a nice area, only a few blocks from central park.. he starts on Monday already!!

Then we walked through central park and across to the east side to go eat burritos and drink $4 frozen margaritas at Blockheads. Yum! Once we were a bit tipsy we walked back to central park and lounged for a bit before we had to head allllll the way up to 175th street to go to the United Palace Theater for the show. It's in "kind of a bad area" but it's a BEAUTIFUL theater! Any of you watch the HBO mini series Mildred Pierce? They filmed there for the scene at what is supposed to be the CA Philharmonic. Apparently the old one and this theater look exactly the same! I snapped a few photos of the inside, it was just breathtaking!

Our seats were a bit high, but I don't mind. What I do mind is how lame people are at NYC shows. Like, I know we are all in seats and everything, but you all paid 50 bucks to come to this show and sit in your seat and not even act like you are enjoying the music? Even at general admission shows I go to at like The Bowery or something, everyone mostly stands there with their arms crossed. People in this town are too afraid of what everyone thinks to dance around and enjoy themselves. Are people like this at shows where you live? I sure hope not, it kind of takes the fun out of things. Two girls sitting in front of us got into a fight cause the one girl was sining along!

But whatever, I had a good time! At the bottom of this post I added two of my favorite Fleet Foxes songs. These guys really know how to harmonize, it's a beautiful thing. Enjoy!!

route 9 diner

In case you don't know, breakfast is like my favorite meal. I just love breakfast foods, pancakes, french toast, eggs over easy.. gimme!! So obviously I love diners were I can get breakfast any time of the day! Here are a few photos of Courtney, Chris and myself enjoying our spiked coffees while we wait for our meals at the Route 9 Diner. Actually, I ended up eating a chicken salad sandwich that night, breakfast gods, please forgive me!!!

Also enjoy this little video Courtney made of our meal. There was a jukebox at our table, and pretty much the only good music on it was The Beatles. The rest was all like WOW pop hits of 2006! or something like that.

Dreamboat Courtney Brooke

Some amazing photos by my good friend Courtney Brooke Hall. These are from over the weekend when I was staying with her and her other half Chris for Brimfield. We got back home after our second day there and had a little photo shoot in their backyard. Luckily their lawn mower is broken so it was over grown with dandelions and other wild flowers. The cropped red top and the little black hat I'm wearing in that one outfit are two of my favorite finds from the weekend.

I met Courtney through the internet (where I seem to meet all my friends these days) back in high school, Ali and I were so inspired by her photography, and a wonderful friendship bloomed from it. I only got to meet Chris and Courtney in person a little over a year ago, but I consider them two of my dearest friends. They open their home to us nearly whenever we want to come up for a visit (just about a 3 hour drive away) they are really the kindest people :) Courtney also has an etsy where she sells AMAZING things! I bet you all wish you could see her closet, filled with beautiful vintage! Also check out her blog and her flickr for more lovely photos.

bits of brimfield

Here are just a few photos from friday and saturday at Brimfield. When I got to Palmer on friday, Courtney and I headed right over to then show, and what a nice day it was! I think we got a bit of sunburn on my shoulders! Last year I only got to go one day, and so this year I was glad to spend the whole weekend taking it in, cause it is quite the sight! As you can see, the fair takes place along this one road, on either side there are fields going back with thousands of vendors. You need a few days in order to really see everything and not tire ourself out too much in the process. We also came back on sunday to help Donna of Donnaland (there is a good little write up about brimfield on her homepage with more info if ya scroll down a bit) help pack up her tent all day long, in the pouring rain. I mean, we were under a tent and all, but it got muddy! And all my curls fell out! But I got paid in vintage!! More photos to come, and plenty of gems on their way to the shop once I get home!
