little things

Photobucket
Photobucket

sorry iv been so bad at blogging this month! last month i was on fire, but december is just that kind month where it goes really fast and theres a million things to do. ya know? so dont hate me.
this is just kind of a little update, along with some recent photo booth pictures. my birthday is coming up on friday, i will be 23 this year! im planing soem fun little things for my birthday weekend, probably a bit of an intimate night the day of my birthday, and then i have a party planed for saturday night. not too many people will probably come, but im urging all to dress up a bit! i know i will be wearing my best party dress!
this months closes a very crazy year for me. well not crazy, more like perfect. it just went by so fast and theres so many great things that have happend in 2010. i started my blog (well restarted. iv had it since 2008, but i tried to start new and get serious this year) as well as my shop. both i began in january at the start of the year and something new and fresh. and here i am almost a year later, nearly 100 sales in my shop, which was a bit of a goal i set for myself that im happy to make. well almost make. im at 99 sales right now. so chances are pretty good. let me just say whoever makes that 100th purchase will get an extra special package in the mail as a thank you!
in may my boyfriend and i made things official. we were "unofficial" for a bit over a year by that point, then we decided to try and stop being cool single people and just love each other like we knew we could. then in september i moved in with this hunk, and then we got some cats! so pretty good year if you ask me.
so in 2011 i have some goals i want to reach. i want to get even more serious with my shop and blog. i want to do things a bit more profesional, mostly in my shop i mean.try and set up a good area for photos and do regular shop updates. my blog i want to do more outfit posts! and just post more in general. keep it up! i want to be as self employed as possible. in this year im going to try to move away from my trader joes job and try to focus more on retail or styling. i want to do more handmade things, which is going to start at the end of this month. iv been making some bows for hair and collars that are going to be available in my shop soon. as well as some other handmade items. i have so much vintage fabric and so many ideas, i need to execute them and pass these gems onto you! see an example of my work below.
i also want to plan a cross country road trip and visit as many bloggers and friends as will have me. and document it all along the way. i need to travel more, see more, learn more. maybe take some classes just for the hell of it!
one more thing, i know iv been getting a few more readers recently, getting my name out there i suppose. if your a reader of any kind, just say hello! drop a little note in the comments. do you all like where this blog has been? is going? what do you want to see and hear when you visit my blog? i am here to please :)

holiday party

Photobucket

i was so excited when hannah and landon told me they were having a holiday party. i was dying to go to one, im not the biggest christmas person, my boyfriend dosent celebrate holidays really since he was raised a jehovas witness ( he hasn't been since he was 18, but the not celebrating holidays thing really sticks with you.. especially one as materialistic as christmas) but i do love the holidays and just how festive everyone gets. i was really hoping someone would have a holiday party where people were expected to dress up a bit and have fun!
it was the perfect night to break out this really great dress i got from my friend courtney she let me go through a bunch of things she was getting rid of, and this dress was one of them. i literally hadn't even tried it on until this night, but i knew it would be perfect. and hey what do ya know, it fit like a dream! plus hannah says she loves blondes in yellow ;)
the party was a blast, my boy came along, and so did ali and her love steven. there were cookies, and drinks and games to play. i played dreidel for the very first time! we used scrabble pieces as our money, and so we started spelling things with the letters we had. some weird things we came up with. we also played this game called salad bowl which i not gonna try to explain, but it was a lot of fun when you have a good amount of people.
oh, and lets not forget the amazing kittenss!!! a brother and sister, so much smaller than i thought they would be. totally just chilling in their bedroom. not even noticing the party going on around them. they were so cute. i brought them a little cat toy as a gift. over all it was a great night, thanks hannah and landon!

first flurries

Photobucket

today is my boyfriends birthday, he turned 30! i had a surprise party for him on friday, it was fun, he was totally surprised! today we lounged around mostly, i made breakfast and we watched some boardwalk empire. left the house for a bit to stop at the thrift store and get some falafel to bring home and eat and watch more boardwalk empire ha. then i worked on wrapping some christmas gifts. im handmaking a few things this year, the recipients will be very pleased i think!
something about this coat im wearing, i have had it for almost two years and never even tried it on due to the real mink fur collar. i had alway intended to sell it, and was going to this winter but then i tried it on last week and decided to keep it, at least for a bit. despite the fur, its beautifully made, a d great color and its not too often you come across something this beautiful in a thrift store. my boyfriend, who is vegan, thinks otherwise. he doesn't really like that im wearing it one bit, and i see what hes saying. i dont lie to wear fir either.. but in this case, its 60+ year old fur ob a coat that is otherwise a work of art in my eyes. i would never wear new fur, only vintage, and even then i wouldn't wear it much. i would take faux fur over real any day. how do you other vintage wearing ladies feel about this?

delicates

Photobucket

todays weather was horrible, wind and rain. oh the wind! the days have been very grey lately and rainy, and so the lack of outfit posts continues. however today i received a few packages in the mail. some for friends for the holidays, and a little thing or two for myself.
you cant see the detail on this bra, but its so so amazing, 30s dead stock beauty in the lightest pink. i found it at this amazing etsy shop BarbarosasVintage. the straps are a tad long, but thats an easy fix. its comfortable and perfect.
i also received this pink velvet bed jacket from greatest friend vintage, it was just too pretty to pass up. im looking forward to wearing it with something totally not soft and sweet. grunge it up a bit, so to speak. both purchases were rather cheap and so so worth it.

and im spent!

Photobucket

so i just got home from working an almost 10 hours shift and now im relaxing with a bottle of sierra nevada celebration seasonal ale. oh man was it a crazy day. our trader joes just switched locations a block away to a whole new much bigger store. for the last month it has been a crazy process, totally setting up the nes store and stocking our selves. and today we opened our doors to all, it was quite sad really, one person was waiting at the doors when we opened. but then it got crazy busy!! and i was on the floor all day, stocking the refrigerated sections (we call this "the wall") and running all around.
when i was on break i stopped in bed bath and beyond which is in our new shopping center and picked up my third color from the revlon matte lipstick collection. i can not recommend this lipstick more, they have wonderful colors (the "wine not" is awesome) and it stays on all day. matte is the best when it comes to lip color, and my new one "really red" is just what i was looking for. i also stopped in ulta, also in our shopping center and had to stop myself from making a $10 nail polish impuls buy.
sos as you can read, this isn't much of a fashion related post, just kind of a "this is my day" ramble. some good news, golden fur vintage is now sponsoring fancy fine and i couldn't be happier! this is my first time sponsoring a blog, and i think pairing up with ashley for the month of december is the best choice i could have made. december is a great month for me, well really only because it holds my birthday, december 17th ;) im really excited about this new endeavor, and i hope my readers are too!
well, back to relaxing and maybe listing some more things in my shop if can bring myself to do any more work. goodnight!

new england summer trip

Photobucket

so right now its 5 am, im sitting on the couch, theres a cat in my lap and one one the couch next to me. woke up a bit ago, and i cant sleep for some reason. so i took the time to look through my iphoto and realized i never made a post about the trip to maine and boston that i took with my mom and sister over the summer! it was a really amazing beautiful trip, the maine part of it anyway. we took a ferry from long island to connecticut, then drove up to maine many many hours. we stayed in bar harbor, on the island where acadia national park takes up most of the land, and got to go to the very top of cadillac mountain. its the first thing sunlight touches when it rises on the east coast. crazy! and beautiful.
then we drove back back down, stopping in boston for two days, simply because we hadn't been there in a long time and i never really got to see it. quite nice town! a lovely vacation over all. it was hard to edit these photos to put on here, i took so so many. but either way this is still a very image heavy post, so ill let the photos do the talking.
(keep in mind, my little sister is quite the animated character, makes many faces and hate when i hug her.. you will see. but we had fun talking photos together. i wish i had her around all the time to take my outfit photos, shes quite good hah)
