slinky

Photobucket

Yesterday I had the great pleasure of meeting a new friend, and someone who will probably be contributing photos to the blog pretty regularly now! Noelle Downing contacted me a few weeks ago saying she would be interested in helping me out with blog photos if I needed it. I guess knowing I used my tripod all the time I could use a hand. Yesterday we met for coffee, has a good chat about ourselves, got to know one another a bit. Then we took some shots for the blog, and I have to say it's a pretty good fit. So not used to the shutter going off a million times and having so much to work with! Thanks Noelle!

So everything I'm wearing here I got from Beacon's. I just got this dress last week, a bit of a departure from my usual garb, but I like it. Pretty sexy I guess with that low cut back, when I first saw it I thought it was vintage. It looked pretty 70s disco to me, but turned out to be designer, Yigal Azrouel. It leaves little to the imagination I guess haha, but it feels really nice on, and it's fun to mix things up a bit, especially when I don't usually show so much skin

cobalt

Photobucket

Just got this amazing dress from work yesterday, the brand is Madchen, (with an umlaut over the A) I have never heard of it before.. sounds scandinavian to me or something. Anyone know it? I really love it, the color is so striking and the pattern is wonderful. It's maybe a bit heavy for the amount of humidity in the air today, but when I get something new I pretty much have to wear it right away. Oh, and the wedges are JC, and my new favorite vintage necklace. I feel like "new favorite" is something I say way too often hahah.

I have a few exciting things in the works over here, can't give away too much on this one but the lovely Micaela from The Drifter and The Gypsy is relaunching her blog later this month and was sweet enough to contact me about contributing monthly! Me and a few other bloggers will be having regular features on her blog, mine being showing you guys some step by step hair style tutorials! I'm pretty excited about it, playing around with my hair is something I love doing, and a good old collaboration with a blogger who I have been following for a while is always something I'll take on. So keep your eyes peeled on her blog and mine for the launch of that. Also I just may be getting help soon with outfit photos by a lovely Brooklyn lady who contacted me about doing just that. I think me taking my own photos with a tripod has worked out pretty well so far, but it will be refreshing to try something new, and with someone with a nicer camera than mine! Hope to start that this week, big things going on here, stay tuned!

pink and gold

Photobucket

Another beautiful day here in Brooklyn! The humidity is gone, the days are warm and sunny.. strange strange weather we have been having this year but I really can't complain. Yesterday was an amazing day filled with beach and babes. I was finally able to get a big crew of my girlfriends together for the beach yesterday and it was just perfect! I am quite proud to day I have made it to the beach like 10 times this summer, which is quite a high number for living in the city even though we are an island.

Todays outfit features one of my favorite new dresses, from where else but Beacon's. In fact the necklace and the shoes are from there too.. my own personal closet. I love the color on this dress, I steered clear of wearing pink for the longest time, I just didn't feel right in it. But the times have changed and I find myself adding more and more pink to my closet these days. These shoes are sweet aren't they? Today is my first time actually wearing them out, they seem a bit more fall and holiday to me, but I know I will get plenty of wear out of them for sure.

roof goofin'

Photobucket

Roof photos!! I have been waiting to live in an apartment with roof access! I guess it's a pretty normal expected thing here in Brooklyn, but at my old place I did not have such a luxury. But now I do and it's pretty sweet! I plan to come up here for most of my photos now probably, it's secluded and only one flight of stairs away.. and full of light which was something I hardly had taking photos in my kitchen at my old place!

This dress I got from where else.. Beacon's Closet! One that I came back to being in my bucket after being off for two days, always a nice surprise. My co-worker Mary put it in my bucket for me, her and I have very similar style, we love kitschy vintage things, but we have totally different body types, like how she's probably under 5 foot and has the cutest little feet I'v ever seen! So often times something is just a bit too long for ehr or something and then she passes it onto me, cause I will probably love whatever she loves.

The clogs, also from work, are Sven Swedish clogs, I recommend them to anyone! I don't really know what their price point is compared to say Swedish Hasbeens, but I can tell you they are plenty comfy and go with everything and I get a ton of compliments on them, so total thumbs up! This lovely necklace I got at Brimfield in May when I went on a CRAZY jewelry buying kick cause for some reason I realized I had none that I liked anymore and all I wanted to do was wear a necklace every day or something. Havent kept my word on that completely, but I did get a few gems, this maybe being the one shining the brightest.

Thanks to those of you who still stuck around and the kind words in the comments from yesterdays post! It always amazes me that when I take a hiatus (and there have been many of them) that there are you wonderful readers still hangin' around to read whatever nonsense I have to say here. So really, thanks again and I hope ya keep coming back!!

I'm back!

Photobucket

Annnnd I'm back! So sorry for the super long hiatus you guys, I just moved into my new place, trying to get things in order and look nice enough for taking photos and such. So far my balcony seems to be the one part thats truly coming together, quite happy about that. It's nice to have a little outdoor nook right next to my bed, I really lucked out with this place.

This is what I wore to work and then out for karaoke on Tuesday, I actually took off the necklace and added a hat after I took these photos, but if you follow me on instagram you already saw that!  This dress is a new addition I got from work, an American Apparel dress which it turns out if quite coveted! I feel so lucky, especially since I don't own too much AA, I'm glad I came across something that I really like that's quite timeless and dosen't scream AA when ya look at it. And you can kind of glance my Salt Water sandals here, also got them from work and have been wearing them every day! So so comfy, go with nearly everything, I highly suggest you all go get them before the summer runs out!!

sheer flowing floral

Photobucket

Yikes! Sorry you guys, I have been really bad at this recently. I warned you. I could tell you I'm busy with moving and blah blah blah, but that's really no excuse. I have not even begun to really pack yet, but in a weird twist of fate, have been making my apartment look nice very shortly before packing it all up so that some folks from Teen Vogue could come over and take some shots of my bedroom. They have this online blogger apartment feature that I was totally excited to be asked to be a part of! It's due out next month, so keep checking back and i'll let ya know when it's up!

I snapped these shots right after they left, this was one of the 5 outfits they shot me in and probably my favorite of the day. I really liked that I got to pretty much just style myself how I wanted, I was asked to have a few outfits ready, and was happy to see there was no fuss over changing what I chose. I mean, this is about MY style and all, but ya never know with a magazine thats a bit more mainstream, and since I don't wear name brands much, or anything new.. I don't know what I'm getting at here, it was a fun experience, all throughout high school I was a huge Teen Vogue fan. It was always one of my favorite publications and so I'm totally excited to see the outcome! Oh, and boy did I do a lot of smiling for those photos! Those Teen Vogue girls are always so happy, had to put away my usual stone cold blank stare for a bit!

So here I am wearing probably my favorite cropped top ever! I got it of etsy like two years ago, and has been an immediate staple in my wardrobe since. Speaking of how I hardly wear name brands, this skirt is Betsy Johnson haha! But vintage at that, and heck, Betsy was like my favorite when I first started getting into fashion, especially in my Teen Vogue years, so it only seemed fitting. This skirt is crazy long, super flowy and light and sheer, feels wonderful to wear around the city streets on these hot days we have been having. I have also been playing with a new hairstyle recently, maybe it's time for another tutorial soon! Cause it is super easy, pretty much just a bunch of twisting and a lot of bobby pins, and it looks like a lot more went into it than anyone will really know!

And so, if you are STILL reading all of this ranting, let me give you a quick run down on what has been going on with my life.. my boyfriend who I have been living with these past two years and I have broken up, but don't worry, everything is okay. But this is why I am moving. Gotta start packing up all the crazy stuff i own and get ready to move in with my lovely friend and fellow blogger and makeup artist Annie!!! (this chick is a beauty blogger, can't wait for how amazing my skin and hair will probably be after living with her a bit!) She has a cute little place in Williamsburg with a room opening up at the end of the month, and it will be mine! So like I said, things will continue to be spars around here, but please just bare with me, a new life and new adventures to come, and I would love it if you were all along for the ride! As always, thanks for reading and I love ya all! (corny, I know)

theme friday: coven

Photobucket

Man, I am really half assing this right now. Today is Theme Friday once more, we have kind of been neglecting it again, no one can seem to get on the same page. But now it's back. This weeks theme is Coven... and I did a poor job. I had this pretty cool lace dress with big huge flowing sleeves in mind, but then I remembered I left it at my friend Anna's place. In fact I left nearly everything black or white that I own at Anna's place last week cause we were filming a music video for the band Supercute!

Silly me, I totally forgot all of that was over there until last night, so I did what I could with the hardly anything I had. I guess I was going for  The Craft look here, but I don't have any black lipstick, or rosary beads, or really anything... so all ya get is a cut off wife beater and a sheer black skirt. I promise I will put more effort into this next time. Actually, scratch that, no more promises, I am about to be moving later this month so I'll probably just forget about this blog all together for a while, like I have been doing already. Oh well!!

Leah Goren

Photobucket

Sorry I have been so bad at blogging this last week! This tends to happen sometimes, so while I'm being lazy about taking outfit photos of myself, I will share some photos someone else took of me! These shots are for my friend Leah Goren's etsy shop! She is a super talented illustrator, working mostly in watercolors to create amazing prints which she makes into all things like dresses, top, totes and scarves. I am quite a fan of her work, I love the colors she uses and especially her reoccurring use of flowers! When Leah asked me to model some new designs she had for her shop I was more than happy to help! Hop on over to her blog too for super inspiring art work, oh and have I mentioned Anthropologie is now selling some dresses with her prints?? So proud to have such talented friends getting the recognition they deserve!
