Outfit from the other day, wore something a bit out of the ordinary for me. All of these things except for the shoes came into work the other day and then made their way into my closet. I tried the top and skirt on together, not really meaning to pair them with one another, but once I had them on it really worked and I scooped the two up. I felt awesome and extremely bright walking around Brooklyn in this outfit. The body chain is also a bit of a departure for me, but I really like how simple this one is and I feel like I can work it into a lot of outfits. Sorry to say I have no idea where it originally came from, I got a lot of questions about it that day and all I could say was I got it at Beacon's Closet!

Friday
This is what I wore yesterday to my friends birthday party for a theme of black and white and patterns. So there is this place my friends run called The Big Snow Buffalo Lodge which is a music venue type space, and every month or so they have a monster party. At this monster party bands play like any other night, but it is also an art show where in you make a monster, whatever a monster might be to you and there is usually a bit of a theme to it, last time was monster prom, the one before that was 420.. you can figure that one out. This one was in celebration of my friend Kates birthday, she likes to make art with awesome patterns, and so thats how we made our monsters. And of course any chance I get to dress in theme, I'll take it!!
This dress is by a brand called Ya-Ya, I see it often at Beacon's, not always totally in love with it, but this dress I can really get down with. It feels so good on, those cut out spots are in the most perfect place that makes it feel kinda sexy without being so straight forward about it. I love this necklace too, another recent addition to my growing jewelry collection. I can't seem to take it off these days. Also, taking blog photos in the waining sunlight, my new favorite thing. It's too damn bright up there these days in the early morning!

Wednesday
I got this insanely beautiful dress at work the other day, it's by a brand called
Lemlem which gets their handwoven fabrics from Ethiopia. The brand was started in 2007 by native model Liya Kebede as a way to stimulate their local economy and preserve the art of traditional weaving. On the website you can find amazing clothing, accessories and home goods all in beautiful colors and summery silhouettes. Wearing this dress to work yesterday and then out at night, the compliments were endless. I didn't think such a wide variety of people would be so turned on by the style of this dress, but it really is a no brainer. The orange alone on this baby is so striking and will no doubt make you stand out.

Wednesday
I have always been a huge fan of patterns and colors, but recently I have really gotten into more ethnic prints and styles that come into my store. This dress being one of them, I love the tent shape and how its a little mix and matchy. Also it has four different patterns, I am a firm believer in no less than two patterns when mixing, so this one goes above and beyond. I do believe it was sold at Anthropologie originally, They sure know what they are doin' over there!

Tuesday
So I got these pants at work yesterday, I have been waiting for some kinda baggy boyfriend type jean to come in for a while. But nothing was ever really working. They were all too baggy in the midsection and never as high waisted as I wanted. Then these babies came into my life, perfect fit, and some awesome babe threw some bleach on them and really wore them in for me. Perfect jeans.

Samantha Pleet X Wolverine 1000 Mile Collection
First off, please excuse the look of pain on my face. They just repainted my roof top silver and it was terribly blinding up there while trying to take these photos. I think I'm gonna have to wear shades from here on out when I go up there now! Today I am breaking out my full on Samantha Pleet outfit from head to toe! Sam and her husband Patrick were sweet enough to outfit me and a few of our other friends in some of there Spring collection! Though I was totally taken by so much of the collection, I went with this top and shorts. As y'all know I'm a sucker for crop tops and all the pockets on it are such a clever idea.
Samantha also has been working with Wolverine and has created a bunch of beautifully designed boots for their 1000 Mile Collection. I was lucky enough to receive a pair and let me tell ya, choosing was very hard! But in the end I went with the Arc boot in marmelade. The color is fantastic and I don't have anything in this particular style. I see these being a staple for a long long time, and so far they are wearing perfectly!
I am also wearing some pretty cool jewelry that y'all should check out. A super sweet customer by the name of Natalie Jacob who is a regular shopper at Beacon's Closet sometimes sells in the jewelry she makes. Her line us called Etymology and you can find it on her Etsy shop. Her prices are great and she uses some really beautiful colors and components in her stuff. The two necklaces and two middle bracelets in the photo below are made by her. I wear the bracelets every damn day, I love them so much.

Friday
New favorite dress. And I'm not just saying that this time. This is like my dream dress. Anything that has crazy sleeves like this wins me over, but then it's lace.. and not just any lace, DAISY print lace. Oy. I nearly died when it came into work. The only bad thing it was in kinda sad condition, both the armpits ripping at the lace. Which I tried to fix, but as soon as the first wear they ripped open again. Whatever, I don't really mind a few holes here and there, especially if they are in the pits, thats easy enough to hide.
I'm gonna go ahead and say today is going to be the warmest day we had so far, I was sweating up on my roof taking these photos today, and it was still before 10 in the morning. Too bad I will have to be at work all day.. well not all day. I am getting out at 5 to go to my friend Tony's vintage showroom opening tonight. Super excited about this, it's something he has been working towards for quite a while, and he has an amazing eye for the real old beautiful stuff. Especially old american work wear and worn in denim.

Tuesday
My new favorite thing is wearing this awesome blue liquid eyeliner from Sephora each and every day! It is so bright and vibrant and I'v been getting a million compliments on it, and it also supringly goes pretty well with most outfits. It was $12 and comes in quite a few other colors too.. I think I need to go back and maybe pick up some purple, among other colors.
Just got these two tops at work yesterday, but the pants I'v had for like 2 years now, and they don't nearly get enough wear either. I just did a bunch of spring cleaning yesterday and switched out all my winter coats for my summer clothes, so it helped me to really see what I had and rediscover a few things. Such a great feeling! Today is a bit more chilly, but yesterday was amazing, I didn't even wear a coat out! I am also getting obsessed with the extended forecast and it's getting me super pumped for 70 degree weather!!
