pumpkin carving party

Photobucket

saturday night ali invited us over for a pumpkin carving party. others were invited.. but it turning into just us two couples again. no harm, it was a lovely night! we brought over some wine and some pumpkin pie (if you shop at trader joes, get the frozen pumpkin pie! just let defrost and serve! even better when still a bit cold, like pumpkin ice cream. really its the best!) and got to carving! jeremy has only ever carved like two pumpkins before. he was raised a jehovah witness and ya know, didnt celebrate holidays. so he wasn't into it at first, but he was so cute carving!
i carved a kitty! to be honest, i used the stencil that came with the tool we bought. but whatever man! it came out nice! and i spent $10 on that carving kit so i better get another one of two in before the seasons over!!

Oh man, my dad and I used to go all out with those kits! We had a serious collection of those little saws, and we'd get the crazy patterns where you'd poke all the little holes through the stencils. I think the best I ever did was a freakin' AWESOME Dracula. Scary shit!

Those look so nice! I wish Halloween was a bigger thing over here.

yea thats what i did, poking through the holes. at my house my dad always got real big into it also. hes a bit of an artist so he really went all out. we would use his clay sculpting tools to do that thing where you make the pumpkin walls real thin and then just carve into it so light shines through the thin parts of pumpkin. thats always my favorite thing to do.
