bow crazy

Photobucket

Wow! First outfit post in quite a while!! I know I said I would be better at this.. but I have not been keeping up with things this month.. but all of that it about to change! I have some very exciting news that I forgot to share on here.. I got a new job!! I start today actually, in about an hour, at Beacon's Closet!!! If you are a reader of this blog, than you probably know that this is a total perfect fit! I got a full time position at the Park Slope location, and I am beyond words excited for the wonderful things this job will bring. I go there to trade all the time, the girls who work there seem really nice and first dibs on vintage duds?! Perfect!! This also means I will be wearing my normal clothes more often (when working at Trader Joe's I had to wear jeans and a tee, so outfit posts were hitting a low) and will be once again documenting my daily outfits!!

So here is my outfit today, I actually wore this same one a week or more ago, but I only shared it on Instagram. I have basically been rocking some version of this outfit for the last two weeks. I came across this black ribbon which goes perfectly around my neck tied in a bow! And I have still been all about the layering and the playing around with separates. And of corse the thigh highs and knee socks have been a constant wardrobe choice as well. As for the rest of this outfit, I got the blue sweater with a horse printed on it at Donnaland warehouse in St. Louise back in November. The blouse, skirt and shoes are all thrifted gems.

Oh and my nails! Still on a pretty big nail kick, and while I was at Target last week I saw this set of nail stickers with little flowers and gems and I just had to get them. A little childish? Maybe. But when used the right way, you get these kick ass flower power nails that I have on right now. Mission accomplished!!

wonder weekend

This past weekend was a whirlwind of fun.. cool girls, pretty dresses.. maybe some late night Papa John's and roof climbing. I feel so lucky to have met so many awesome people through blogging, and not just stylish gals with talent, but down to earth chicks who like to have a good time! Please see below for a load of instagram photos by all the gals I spent time with this weekend, mostly in chronological order. Beware, late nights and free drinks end in funny photos.

street style

Photobucket

So here is like the only outfit I really got photos of this weekend. I wore this on Saturday to hang around Lincoln center with a bunch of gal pals to do some people watching, and to be watched ourselves! It's funny walking around Lincoln center with no real purpose for being there, but to be mobbed by photographers for what you are wearing either way. I have experienced this before, but my lovely friend Kater from All This Happiness who was staying with me was a bit new to the scene and it was funny to see her get asked for her photo, and then to have 5 more photogs pounce!

Pretty much everything I am wearing here is vintage, the coat and dress as from Donnaland when I went to work in her St. Louis warehouse. I think this coat is the best thing ever, it really makes me stand out in a city where everyone wears all black. And I have gotten a billion comments on it since I got it. The wooden box bag I also got in St. Louis, but from a flea market we went to on our day off. It was a bit more then I would normally spend, but I knew that if I left without it I would be thinking about it forever! The shoes I just scored the other day from Beacon's Closet in Park Slope, and they are by Ann Demeulemeester.. which was a bit of a struggle to pronounce right when asked what I was wearing! The hat and tights are from forever 21.

This outfit made it onto a few sites from that day, including The Cut and The Fashionista! This is actually the second time I have made The Cut, the other time was a few seasons ago I think durring the September fashion week. Pretty excited. You can go here, here and here to see this look in action! I didn't really think about it at the time.. but I guess I posed the same for everyone.. so it's a bit lame haha. But whatevs, I guess I was doing something right!

And thanks Kater for these photos! She has a nice camera, way nicer than mine!

Amy Merrick flower shop

Photobucket

Yesterday I had the immense pleasure of stopping by the valentines pop-up flower shop my friend Amy Merrick has been hosting this weekend in the west village! Amy is a talented Brooklyn based florist who also keeps an ever inspiring blog An Apple A Day. I have not known Amy for too long, but I have been a fan of her wonderfully wild and natural floral creations for some time now. I came to show my support (gosh knows I love flowers and small businesses!) and to buy myself one of her bouquets, quite a dream I must say! She is super sweet and put this one you can see below together for me. It was nice to pick out a flower and have her just make something organically from that.

Amy will be selling her creations for one more day, valentines day! Don't miss out on getting your special someone (or if your me, yourself!) the most amazing flowers on earth! She will be at Castor & Pollux 238 W. 10th st. from 12p-7p on tuesday the 14th! And be sure to check out her website because it is ever so pretty, and just so happens to match the coat I wore to her shop yesterday. Happy coincidence!

Lauren Moffatt

Photobucket

So lets get started on this Fashion Week coverage! This go around I once again didn't have too many obligations, but I did manage to get my way into a show or two. I started the week off right with the Lauren Moffatt show, which I could not have been more pleased with! School girl vibes with mini skirts and knee socks, complete with great fabric choices and color that pops! This was her first presentation and I sure am glad she's started doing them. For the type of girl these cute outfits attract, this sort of character presentation was spot on! It gave you a chance to get some really great editorial type photos, plus a look at the clothing from every angle. I can't wait to see what she does next season!
