french side braid tutorial

so i have never posted a tutorial before. i filmed one a little while ago on rag curls. but its about 20 minuets long and needs to be edited to be shorter really bad. unless you feel like sitting with me and watching me roll 20 rags into my hair while i try and think of random things to rant about and say besides " so ya take your hair in the rag and roll it up! simple as that!"
but i just posted on my flickr a photo of how i wear my hair most days at work to keep it out of the way. its simple and still very pretty, i also wear it this way normally and its quite swell! (jeremy and i recently started watching mad men and "swell!" is making its way into my vocabulary)
i get tons of compliments from customers on it and they always ask how to do it. its really quite simple i always say so i thought, hey maybe someone wants to see how to do this! so hear ya go!
sorry, i dont really have an on screen presence yet, but if ya all like this, maybe ill work on my posture, or something.

museum date

jeremy and i have been dating for well over a year now, however we didnt make things official (as in starting to call each other bf/gf) until may. and in this time we had never really gone on a "date" nor had we really gone to the city together. there was one time i went with him and his friends to go to a show but i was deathly ill and ended up leaving early on my own. so i would hardly call that a city tip together. so last monday we took a train into manhattan with the idea of going to the MET and central park and getting dinner an what ever else we thought of.

however, once we got in, took a subway up to the upper east side and were walking up to the MET, i remembered something that really pissed me off when i was at FIT and had to go to the museum for studies and such.. THE MUSEUM IS CLOSED ON MONDAYS! ug. what a disappointment. but no biggie, we crossed the park, stopped for some photos at the belvedere castle and then made our way to the museum of natural history.

hall of north american mammals, jeremy was very excited about this one. went around reading about all the stuffed critters. mind you, we got in there with only like half an hour till they closed, so we had to high tail it to our favorite spots. we didnt really pan this day out too well. but it was fun anyways.

the hall of biodiversity. my personal favorite. all these crazy specimens all over this great big wall. beautiful for photos. i squirmed a little bit at the spiders. jeremy was trying to get me to overcome my fear by staring at them.. but i just got the willies! i hate spiders! then we went down into the.. i dont know what its called. the one with the big whale and all the ocean things...

north american trees or some crap. at this point they were shutting down so we were just trying to get a few ore sights in before heading downtown for dinner at red bamboo. it was my first time going there, but god it was good! i had the soul creole chicken, yum! there was so much, we were able to take home left overs to much on the next day. over all it was a great time. we would love to go in again soon and really get to take in the museum more, i love the hall of gems!

when i was interning at marie claire i fell in love with sonia. her designs are so funky, but really vintage inspired. everything is so playful and made from the best fabrics, beautiful colors and usually some shine somewhere. this resort collection is no different. i would wear all of these in a heartbeat.

zara casual fall 10

i want to achieve something like this for fall. this is all i can think about. i need to get to a thrift store pronto!

zara, so beautiful.

friends who trade together, stay together

after our garage sale we realized that we accumulated quite a bit of each others things. through out the day whenever we saw something we liked from the other, we traded. thats the good thing about having a friend with great taste, and who doesn't have the over powering drive to make too much money. trade and bartering have to be two of my favorite things! here we are in our traded goods.

garage sale

last weekend i had a garage sale with my best friend ali. it was mainly a garage sale for me honestly. last summer ali moved to brooklyn and in the process really eliminated her belongings, which it was i really need to do. so most of this stuff you see here is mine. and can you believe i still have tons more at home!? and tons more to sell on my shop? i really am a bit of a hoarder.
im moving into my boyfriends place next month so i really need to get rid of some of this stuff. the sale went pretty well. i would really love to have another one of two in september. and then after that im just gonna be donating the stuff i suppose. i have problems with getting rid of things sometimes. maybe ill even sell some things in my shop as a lot or something. real cheap! i just want this stuff gone!
if anyone of you readers lives in the long island area, please let me know! i would love to invite all to my next sale. and im selling things cheap! i sold dresses for around $3, blouses and skirts $2. shoes from $2 to $5. and basically everything else was about a dollar. like i said, i just want to get rid of these things!
early morning ali
welcome!
