denim
A pretty casual outfit today for going to my friends place to take photos. He has been working on this photo project and asked me a while ago to sit for him, so I'm going to go over there today and model. It's going to be a gorgeous day out, and I would like to spend the rest of it relaxing in Prospect Park working on my tan if I can!
These jeans I got at work, they are Rebecca Taylor and I just love them. I'm still on the hut for the PERFECT 70s high waisted denim.. but these will do for now. I really love the two zippers (I'm bad at taking photos and didn't show them too well, but the zipper you see in the photo has a twin on the other hip) up the front, and how comfortable and forgiving they are in the waist. The top I got from my friend Leah at a clothing swap we had a few months ago, and the shoes which you can't really see are JC.

summer heat setting in
Today is Memorial day and it is seriously gorgeous out and going to be nearly 90 degrees... and I am going to be stuck in work all day long, ugh. Not looking forward to that, normally I don't care too much about such holidays, but this go around the are possible plans that involve hanging out in Prospect Park all day long.. so I'm feeling a bit defeated. It's okay, I just need to keep telling myself that this is just the beginning of what is probably going to be an extremely hot summer, so I'll have plenty of time to hang in the park and go to the beach and what not. I spent yesterday at a rooftop BBQ with some of my best friends, so I guess that will just have to do!
Trying to wear as little as possible today while at work, things can get a bit stuffy in there since it's getting warmer out. This top is one of my favorite crop tops, I got it off etsy two summers. I wear the hell out of this thing in the warmer months. These shorts I am wearing for the first time today! I got them in MA when I went up there once to visit my friends a while ago. I took them in a bit on the side, as well as hemmed them to make them just right. I have said this before, but I have quite the extensive shorts collection that I don't wear nearly enough. But that will be changing this summer! And on my tootsies, the trusty perfect summer shoe, my Ferragamos! I got these from Beacon's and they have hardly left my feet since!

flower power
No theme at work today! One just didn't get chosen in time, and then I wasn't there the last two days to come up with one.. so I guess i'm taking a break with theme for this week. Wearing a kind of simple outfit today, I have had this little dress for a while, but this is my first time wearing it. It makes me feel like a school girl, so I played on that even more with little sheer ankle socks I got at Target the other day, a sweet floral button up and a flower power brooch!

flares and platforms
Today is my day off, started it right by getting a manicure with my lovely friend Alley before she was off to work. I have been in the mood for matching my nail color to my lipstick these days, a bit inspired by Megan of Mad Men I suppose. So I stuck to this bright coral red type color to match the lipstick I have been wearing most lately. It's a small detail, but it really does get noticed!
Back to my 70s ways today with my outfit. I have said it before, but I'll say it again, I always feel like my style falls comfortably in the 70s. I love most decades of the past and have a real hankering for the 50s and 60s... but when it comes down to it some flares and a pair of platforms will get me every time. Not to mention crop tops! These sweet pants I got from Guvnor's vintage in park slope at the end of last year. It's hard to tell from the horrible indoor photos I take, but they are a forest green and made of this velour type material.. I don't know what you would call it, but they are soft and fuzzy and I love the zippers! Got this cute halter top from work recently, glad it's getting warmer so I can wear it all the time! There is nothing better than the feeling of my now super long hair touching my bare back! Oh and I picked up these sweet Jeffery Campbel platforms at work last week. I haven't ever seen this style before, not that I follow JC stuff too closely, but these I can really dig.

dark and stormy
Todays outfit is a bit out of my usual element.. no color, and pants! I don't know what drove me to dress this way today, maybe these pants. I just got them from work, I don't have too many trouser pants that I feel fit me really well, but I quite like the shape of these and they are really comfortable. Also it is rainy weather again today and so I guess I wasn't up for frilly dresses and the like. This black sheer blouse I thrifted from one of my local haunts on Long Island. This pretty necklace I just got from work too. If it has flowers on it, I want it!
I'm also wearing this trusty side braid again today. Yesterday I had a few questions about the other side, and how I did it. If it was all pulled to one side and such. Well there is a back shot down below and yes, all the hair is smoothed over the one side and braided on the other. Ya just start at the top of your head and gather hair into the braid as ya go down, like any other french braid. super simple!

rain and flowers
Today it is POURING! All last night super loud thunder storm rolling through, something we haven't gotten much of these days. So today for work I wanted to wear something that brought out sunshine and flowers! hah. I got this dress out of a $1 pile of stuff at Brimfield, thats totally my kind of sale! I'll dig through a dirty pile of clothes any day as long as there is promise of something good, and a good deal! I got like 10 things out of that pile, but this is definitely the best I got if ya don't count the cute wiggle dress I found with a rusted zipper!
And today, like yesterday, I'm sporting my good ol' trusty side french braid. Always a good style when you can't quite figure out what to do with your hair, or it maybe needs a good washing and ya don't have time hah. Also get a good amount of compliments, people seem to think it's a good deal harder to do than it actually is. So it's something I like to keep doing, I can show you all sometime!

theme fridays: mad men
So it's back to work and back to theme fridays! This weeks theme is Mad Men, which is cool and all but I had quite a bit of trouble putting something together. I feel like this is a style I wear pretty often, maybe is even most of what my style revolves around for the most part, 50s and 60s vintage. So I decided to go with a dress that I feel would get me ahead in the office, a bum fitting wiggle dress of course! All the guys around the office would love it for sure, i'll give Joan a run for her money!
This is one of my favorite dresses, I got it from Donnaland last summer when I was working for her at Brimfield. The shoes I got at a salvation army out east on long island like two summer ago. The necklace I just got at Brimfield last week, I spent a lot of my time there looking for jewelry to build up my not so existant jewelry collection. I decided I want to start wearing more necklaces and earrings and junk, and I found a whole lot of good stuff up there! And these super pretty cat eye glasses I just got from Donnaland as well! They still have a very mild prescription in them, so they are easy to wear, but not for long if I don't want to mess up my eyes! I plan to get clear lenses put in, or something else if it turns out I need a little help with my vision.. which I feel may be the case these days.

Brimfield madness
Whoa! It sure has been a while since I posted on here! This past week and a half I was away up in Brimfield MA for the Brimfield antique festival! I go up there three times a year to work for Donnaland helping to set up the tent and tear it down at the end of the week. I ment to post while I was there, and even wrote one out to only have my screen turn blue and then lost it all.. so I was kinda over keeping up with blogging while I was up there so I just dropped it till I got back.
But lucky for you I did keep up with my instagram! So here I have the first half of my trip in photos. If you already follow me on instagram, sorry you have to see all these again! If not, well then your in for a treat, Brimfield has some amazing and wild things to offer for everyone. I highly recommend each and every one of you to check it out at some point in your life! Here is the first half of my photos, more to come! And follow me on instragram if you aren't already! @emilyrosetheo
