still winter

this is yesterdays outfit, this was taken outside the salvation army i go to a lot. jeremy and i took a little trip there yesterday with the idea of only shopping for wall art. theres a few spots in our place that still need something beautiful hanging on them. but we didn't find anything. however i did find some nice things for the shop!
jeremy and i both had saturday AND sunday off this weekend so today i took the time to take some shots of new things i have for the shop. i still have stuff from my last shoot with hannah to add (things i said i was doing earlier this week and never got around to it.. sorry!) but i had the time today, and the light reflecting off all the snow outside really brightens up our place a bit so i had some light to use for once! i did all self timer shots and modeld the clothes myself, so we will see how those go over.

this morning i tried out the "koralya" hair style i learned from then scissor sisters tutorial and i think it came out pretty well! this was literally my first try, no do overs. and i say thats pretty good, considering i dont do too complicated things with my hair, nor do i know how to. this was pretty easy, and good on day when you kinda need a shower but dont have the time.. like me.. today. i also got orange lipstick and i wore it to work yesterday and EVERYBODY asked me what i ate that made my lips orange. i rather like it.. just maybe not for work.

dirty blonde

recently i came across these wonderful girls! the scissor sisters look like they have so much fun with their little duo photo shoots and fun lipstick choices! having a shared blog looks like so much fun, i wish i had a girly friend to do this with!
but the real reason im posting these photos is for hair inspiration. recently iv been toying with the idea of dying my hair back to its more natural color. i was a blonde as a kid, but it got to be more like a dirty blonde/light brown when i got older, and especially after dying it for so long. something like what these girls have, brown with a bit of gold in it. i usually dont like my natural color, but something has been pushing me towards it recently. i really like the way all these funky lipsticks look with the hair color, and it would be fun to have to change things up a bit with the colors i wear and stuff to match the new do'. what are all your thoughts? should i take the plunge!

this top is one of the best things i own. i got it one of the first times i traded at beacons closet. as i was being helped, at the trade in counter, the girl next to me brought in a bag of clothes to trade, and it seemed like every item pulled out was better than the last! very cute vintage clothing, i really dont know why this girl was wasting her time there, she had quality stuff!
as her things were being priced i asked if i was allowed to buy the things being priced right then. so i asked for the things that caught my eye, this being one fo them. i ended up getting another dress too from the things she brought in. thanks cute vintage girl!
its vintage christian dior in a beautiful pale pink color, and these photos dont do it much justice, but it has a floral design to it. the only problem is a hardly wear it, i think i have yet to find the perfect skirt/shorts/pants to go with it. but i dont think i can ever give this baby up!

Ambit f/w 2011

a little preview of what i did this weekend. during the holiday times i was introduced to wray serna through hannah and landon, which led to her asking if i would be interested in modeling for her and her partner amber's clothing line ambit. it was to be shot by landon metz and daniel croninand it would involve taking a train to connecticut to her mothers beautiful old house, and getting to wear really beautiful clothes..so i said YES! it was a really great day, we ate yummy food, drank delicious hot cider, tromped around in snow up to our knees (wearing next to nothing, might i add!) and then thawed by the fireplace.
the ambit fall/winter 2011 line is so beautiful, wonderful dark colors, navy blue, deep green, black and a pop of white here and there. the best sheer soft fabric blouses, and thick skirts with wonderful detail and silhouette. real dreamy stuff.

summer lovin'

playing a bit of dress up before work today. starting to use my tripod more.. i guess its not as bad as i thought. a little time consuming.. but its fun having your boyfriend go off to work and then dancing around to music and taking photos while hes away, heh.
the european american shirt i got at beacons closet a year or two ago, i wear it A LOT in the summer. i guess thats what i was kinda going for here. i woke up thinking of spring, and then when i got dressed i just jumped to summer. the shorts were thrifted and used to be pants. the black hat is the best hat ever. felt and fits just right, its all one piece too which is cool, the shaping of it. that was thrifted like 4 years back. the killer denim deadhead vest used to be my moms! she painted that on the back, and the half moon pin in the front is hers too. my mom was pretty cool as a teen, she didn't go to prom cause she dug rock n' roll ;)

a little curl

i used mt tripod today to take these, i had off and jeremy was at work all day so i had to make due. it was not fun, today was pretty cold, and on my camera i have to reset the timer after every picture. so only a few mediocre shots today.

shoes and floral and velvet

this is basically just me coveting jeffrey campbell shoes. i really dont use pollyvore enough, but today i really got into a grind of filling my favorite items folder and pumping these babies out. really inspiring, i honestly dont buy much contemporary clothing anymore, but it was fun window shopping and putting things on my list of things to took out for when i hit the thrifts.

some photos by hannah from our shoot today. shes an extra busy girl these days, being as the loved one just launched their line of unmentionables for pre-order! but she was able to squeeze in a bit of time for her and i to get together and have another go at shop photos for our respective shops. getting to see hannah and landon is always a pleasure, and i have something coming up next weekend that landon is involved in, but ill post more on that next week!
